With the constant barrage of information about climate change and environmental degradation, it is easy to see how the human element of sustainable development is lost. I believe that social cohesion and strong communities are also vital to a sustainable world and are just as important as ecological and environmental issues. “Sustainability” is much more than a recent buzzword. While the use of the word has certainly increased in frequency, the concept itself is hardly new, however, for many, it still remains misunderstood. Sustainability itself is defined by three core elements, each of which must be carefully considered in relation to the others for a simple and very straight forward reason: We cannot maintain our quality of life as human beings, the diversity of life on Earth, or Earth’s ecosystems unless we understand it fully and embrace it on all core elements. ShareAbode: The Podcast opens up the discussion in relation to these core elements: Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability. It is my hope that you'll find these discussions with various guests educational, thought provoking and entertaining and that they allow for deep, meaningful discourse. Interest in the environment leads to unique, unforgettable learning opportunities. Sharing these things can deepen a family’s bond, even as they strengthen a family’s commitment to sustainable living, it can be the catalyst for great change in an individuals way of daily life and it can be a moment of deep change for a business to become more sustainable. And perhaps the most important way you can lend your influence to creating a more sustainable future in all three pillars is when you have understood and taken on board these discussions so much so that you see your children modelling this behaviour to their own children…
