In this episode I catch up with one of the HIQA grads Naomi from NSW, Naomi suffered huge blackouts and would go to huge lengths to try to jog her memory from the night before. We chat about the dreaded drunk dialling episodes. After her separation and other events, Naomi's inner critic was so strong that the thought of time on her own would cause her to drink excessively.

We also chat about navigating the waters of figuring out who you are and rediscovering your identity without alcohol.

Taking the time to notice what you are really craving if you get wobbly. Often times when we have a strong craving there is generally a lot more to the craving than just wanting alcohol. Naomi and I unpack the moment she almost caved and coming out on the other side feeling in tact and proud.

The power in accepting the new you.

The realisation that it's easier not to drink! How moderation for most of binge drinkers just doesn't work and the power of sitting with your feelings.

If you are struggling with physical dependancy on alcohol consider contacting a local AA meeting or a drug and alcohol therapist. Always consult a GP before stopping alcohol.
