“Band of Mothers Podcast” is a podcast for moms that’s not about parenting.
Hosts and lifelong friends, Shayna Ferm and Tracey Tee, (creators of the hit, national touring comedy show, ”The Pump and Dump Show”) focus on one central theme over several hilarious, binge-worthy episodes, as they explore life as 40-something women who also happen to be moms.
Like no podcast you’ve heard before, each episode is its own variety show, featuring real moms’ call-in stories, games, original comedy, original music and inspiring guest interviews. After a delightfully entertaining hour with Shayna and Tracey, you’ll feel like you laughed as much as you learned, and most importantly you’ll know that you truly belong to a #BandofMothers.

Ok friends, we're diving into CBD, cannabis, THC, anxiety, inflammation, stress, addiction and lots of things in between. CBD is having a moment right now - BUT WHAT IS IT? What does it do? Is it legal? Will it make you high? Is it just a gimmick? And what about pot? Should we Just Say No or is there more to the story? Luckily, our special guest, Ashley Kingsley co-founder of Ellamenta.com, is well versed in the weed-o-sphere and just so happens to believe women, in particular, can benefit ...

If you were ever curious about our own birth stories, then this is your week. None of them was what you would call typical - but is any birth, really? We talk about the good and bad of hospital care, that scary moment you first try to breastfeed and what it must have been like for our husbands. Spoiler alert: there is misplaced gauze, an event in an elevator, and The Police played very loudly. Thanks for allowing us to reminisce! How have you been enjoying our podcast? Body Love with Plus Mommy's Jen McLellan

March 14, 2019 07:21 - 59 minutes - 111 MB

The truth is there are ALL kinds of moms, but not all moms are wholly represented and most are grossly under-advocated for and mistreated when it comes to health care. Our guest this week is the luminous Jen McLellan, host of Plus Mommy Podcast and the founder of Plus Size Birth. Jen's story of navigating her own birth plan as a plus size mom-to-be is nothing short of infuriating, and her ideals and perspectives on what this country keeps as priorities when it comes to women is truly enligh...

Why Moms Drink: PPD, Peer Pressure, Play Dates and Getting Sober

March 07, 2019 07:11 - 1 hour - 117 MB

Today being a mom - especially a new mom - is almost synonymous with drinking. Whether it's the constant onslaught of memes and videos joking about how we all need wine online, social pressure to drink at play dates - or even the zoo - or just the unbearable stress and loneliness that surprises thousands of women after they have a baby, wine culture and the celebration of booze and mommyhood is rampant these days. The truth is, this doesn't adversely affect the lives of many women. However, ...

MILF of the Month: Tarot, Religion, Miscarriage and All Things Woo with the "Divine" Kristin Rand

March 01, 2019 07:21 - 1 hour - 132 MB

Our MILF of the Month (Mother I'd Like To Find Out About) is comedian, mom and tarot reader, Kristin Rand. Kristin's journey to finding love (and then finding herself in Birmingham, Alabama) is pretty darn interesting, but we have, like 10,000 questions to ask her about tarot reading (seriously, WHAT IS IT) crystals, (do they work???) and ALL THINGS WOO. We realize we've had a few woo podcasts, but Breeders - we need to get to the bottom of this current trend that's sweeping the nation and ...

Do you feel like the minute that baby came into your life your face started to fall off your face? Ever wonder what you're gonna look like 20 years from now and hope there's something you can do to weather the aging storm? The truth is being a mom to 1 or 10 kids puts the years on FAST...inside and out...and not many of us have the ability to go the Hollywood route and get facials and treatments once a week while taking advantage of the latest anti-aging/weight loss technology (we sure don't...

Please Explain Essential Oils

February 14, 2019 07:11 - 1 hour - 119 MB

We're back on the #wellness train this week, exploring WTF is up with essential oils. Tracey loves them, Shay isn't so sure. Do they work? How? And why? Which oils should we buy and where and OMG ESSENTIAL OILS ARE SO CONFUSING! Join us as we chat with Jennifer Siddens, licensed aromatherapist, autism advocate, wellness advocate and mother of two boys. Her story about her son with special needs and her journey (she hates that word) to oils is compelling, to say the least. We get into a bit ...

February 07, 2019 07:10 - 57 minutes - 107 MB

This week we thought we'd pick the brain of a brand new dad to see what it's like to...be a dad! We know how it feels to be a mom, but we're always curious about the father side of things. Luckily, we were able to have a lively, hilarious and heartfelt conversation from brand new dad, and comedian, and actor and author, Adam Cayton-Holland. You may have seen Adam's brilliant stand up on Comedy Central, or watched him on TruTV's hilarious comedy, Those Who Can't (which he co-created) or mayb...

January's MILF (Mother I'd Like To Find Out About) Of The Month is mother of three and founder of Pilates Collective, Clara Gelatt. Not only is Clara an awesome mom, but she's basically a healer. Just ask Tracey. Her journey to becoming one of Denver's most thoughtful and integrative Pilates instructors is equal parts her own desire to help women become strong and healthy + leaning into a mind/body practice that could help her husband with Muscular Dystrophy. We chat with Clara about balanc...

Marriage After Babies and the Curse of Resentment

January 24, 2019 07:09 - 1 hour - 115 MB

Wow. This one is a doozy. No matter what state your marriage or partnership might be in, something changes (usually many things) once that first baby arrives. There's irritation, there's miscommunication, there's exhaustion, there's doubt and insecurity and there's a whole lot of resentment. Thanks to the amazing and insightful feedback from our #BandOfMothers Facebook group, we gathered so many thoughts and perspectives about marriage after kids, and then we basically flooded our guest wit...

The Tale of the Yurt Baby and The Yurt Baby's Tale

Settle in #breeders, because you do not want to miss these two amazing stories. In this week's episode Shayna and Tracey interview a mother and daughter who share their remarkable birth stories. Ahva Lenay had her baby in a yurt at the top of a mountain in the 80's - YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT - and her daughter Niya Gingerich doesn't make it to the mountain for the birth of her own daughter, but it's a home birth with a twist. If you love hearing birth stories, this is for you. If you're curio...

Resolutions Moms Can Keep and Quit with Special Guest Betsy Stover

January 10, 2019 07:03 - 56 minutes - 106 MB

Sure it's January, but this episode discusses all the resolutions that moms can keep, and QUIT. What if we let more things go (what up mom guilt) and maybe refrain from piling more massive pressure on our plates? What if we were cool with some smaller accomplishments rather than "I'm going to slay this year and everything is going to be awesome and perfect always?" Shay and Tracey share their 2019 resolutions - or rather - intentions - because it's 2019 and that's how we talk now. Also, the...

Please Explain Makeup

November 29, 2018 07:03 - 1 hour - 142 MB

So here's the deal: we're in our 40's and still don't really understand how to put on makeup. We realize that this isn't the most cutting edge of pressing issues to discuss BUT HERE US OUT - we have a feeling a lot of moms don't understand makeup just like us, and we also feel like a lot of moms don't want to watch a YouTube tutorial by a 19 year old. We decided to bring our friend and internationally acclaimed makeup artist (and mom!) Katelyn Simkins to our podcast table and grill here on ...

Ask Us Anything! We're Drunk!

November 15, 2018 07:08 - 55 minutes - 104 MB

What happens when two comedians force themselves to talk about themselves and answer questions about themselves when they don't really love discussing themselves? They drink Bloody Marys and plow through it. If you've ever wanted to know a little bit more about Shayna and Tracey beyond what you see at The Pump and Dump Show (and if you want to hear Tracey talk into a straw, because vodka) then settle in for a very lively, very Zing Zang-y "Ask Us Anything" episode. Some items to note: *Th...

Airing Our Dirty Laundry Pt. 2

November 08, 2018 07:12 - 54 minutes - 101 MB

We continue our round table conversation about the real way we lead our domestic lives. If you've listened to Part 1, then Part 2 will give you all the intel you've been hoping which is mainly: HOW OFTEN DOES EVERYONE CHANGE THEIR SHEETS? There's more juiciness to this episode than just sheets, however. What other questions do we pull from the fruit bowl? You'll have to listen to get the dirty low-down. Oh, and because people have been asking, our favorite cozy, orthotic, don't-hurt-our-bac...

Airing Our Dirty Laundry Pt. 1

November 01, 2018 07:10 - 55 minutes - 104 MB

What REALLY goes on behind the closed doors of our homes? Is someone REALLY washing the baseboards? Is someone else having popcorn for dinner? WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS' CLOSETS REALLY LOOK LIKE? We pull back our Target curtains to tell the truth about our own domestic lives, and then we host a round table with two other moms to discuss the truth of our day to day housekeeping regimen. Or lack thereof. Caution: Label Makers are involved. As always, we'd love to hear your feedback and thoughts. ...

We've both owned other businesses before we started The Pump and Dump Show, and we discuss the long circuitious road we each took that lead us to our jobs today as the creators, writers, producers and performers of The P&D. We've also struggled to run The Pump and Dump show while also raising a family. Big time. In this episode we discuss the ups and downs of being a mom who owns her own business, and how running a biz is different once you become a mom. We chat with mom and owner (and ray ...

Urgent Bonus Episode: A Star Is Born

October 11, 2018 03:03 - 47 minutes - 88.6 MB

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! This is an urgent - maybe bonus? - second episode we had to make because we watched A Star Is Born and we NEED to talk about it. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET. WE WILL RUIN IT FOR YOU. We think this movie made a lot of moms go out to see movies. Many of the moms we know went on actual dates with their husbands or partners; and a lot of moms went by themselves, which frankly is even better. We loved this movie SO HARD. To be ho...

Please Stop Saying #SelfCare

October 08, 2018 18:00 - 59 minutes - 111 MB

We've been having an ongoing dialogue for a few months now about how the hashtag #selfcare tends to get under our skin. It's not that we don't believe in taking care of ourselves, it's just that we wonder if it all has to be posted on social? And maybe it's all just getting a little too out of control? Baths with organic flowers, crystals, oils and three different kinds of salt? Is this realistic? Are we alone in feeling this way? We dive into why the whole self care movement bothers us so ...
