Today being a mom - especially a new mom - is almost synonymous with drinking. Whether it's the constant onslaught of memes and videos joking about how we all need wine online, social pressure to drink at play dates - or even the zoo - or just the unbearable stress and loneliness that surprises thousands of women after they have a baby, wine culture and the celebration of booze and mommyhood is rampant these days. The truth is, this doesn't adversely affect the lives of many women. However, for some, the pressure to drink, and the accessibility and acceptance of drinking as a mom makes it all too easy to turn something that should be moderately recreational into a big time problem.

In this episode we discuss our role in this world having created a mom's night out and live production called The Pump and Dump Show which is often associated with drinking. We also have a beautifully raw and honest conversation with mom, actress and totally amazing nail technician Glennis McCarthy about what it's like to realize you have a problem with booze as a new mom and then what it's like to finally get sober. We talk about postpartum depression, feeling overwhelmed and blindsided with motherhood, and the joy of loving our kids and our lives just the way they are.

Shayna and Tracey have been friends since the 8th grade – that’s over 25 years. After college, they each moved to separate coasts for a decade. They were reunited when they decided to leave big city life and settle down with their families in Denver, Colorado and Facebook told them their daughters are 3 weeks apart. After several play dates, some more childbirth, some unsuccessful pumping, and the overwhelming nature of mommy community boards, The Pump and Dump Show was born.

The show launched in 2012 in a bar in Northwest Denver and quickly grew to a bi-monthly, local staple for new moms to have a night out. In 2014, Shayna and Tracey took The Pump and Dump Show on its first national tour and continue to perform every month to audiences nationwide.
