It's a modern cliche featured in at least half of the series I've seen on Netflix lately. A person walks into a generic looking office and a calm, soft spoken figure with round glasses asks them about their childhood.

But is it accurate? Or do therapists also focus on the issues happening now, the issues that made you pick up the phone and book an appointment?

In today's episode we cover:

Do therapists really focus heavily on childhood? What about childhood is relevant to your adult problems? The major types of parenting and how they affect you as an adultHow our blind spots develop and the problems they cause
