In for the High Jump (Part 2)

November 10, 2015 06:50 - 39 minutes - 36 MB

With the background of Peter’s spectacular failure as a disciple we might have expected that he would set the bar for Christian discipleship really low.  The reality however is quite the opposite – we are to be holy as God is holy!  How are we ever going to come anywhere near clearing that bar?  In the second part of a two-part message on 1 Peter 1:13 to 2:3 James concentrates on Peter’s teaching which helps us recognise why we are to be holy and how we are to achieve this.

Running to Win

October 19, 2015 08:33 - 32 minutes - 30.1 MB

Living as followers of Jesus Christ is often compared to running a race - not a quick sprint but a long, arduous marathon.  How can we run in such a way as to get the prize?  In this stand-alone message from 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Florence suggests three things: engage in strict training; run with purpose; and be self-controlled.

In for the high jump (Part 1)

October 12, 2015 11:01 - 35 minutes - 32.4 MB

With the background of Peter’s spectacular failure as a disciple, we might have expected that he would set the bar for Christian discipleship really low.  The reality however is quite the opposite – we are to be holy as God is holy!  How are we ever going to come anywhere near clearing this bar?  In the first part of a two-part message on 1 Peter 1:13 to 2:3, James looks at what it means for us to be holy, in other words to be like our Heavenly Father.

Faith (Hebrews 11:1-6)

October 06, 2015 08:39 - 32 minutes - 30.1 MB

Disorder - Genesis 3:1-24

September 22, 2015 19:46 - 32 minutes - 29.6 MB

Every language has a word for evil. It is pervades and invades every aspect of creation. In the biblical view, evil is essentially the evidence of a disordered universe. God has designed the universe to function in a certain way. When you follow the design plan, you flourish. When you disregard it, you wither. Evil is the consequence of disregarding the design plan. Evil is a universe in disorder.

Susan Wilson, founder of the Tumaini charity, joined us to share inspirational stories of God's work in Tanzania.

Sin

September 11, 2015 21:50 - 35 minutes - 32.6 MB

The central truth that helps us understand God's design plan is that the biblical God is Creator and humans (and all the universe with them), creation. Sin, in essence, is a disregard for these basic truths. When viewed in this way, Sin expresses itself in two ways: pride, where I take the place of God and/or self-contempt, where I undervalue the goodness with which God has made me and the rest of creation.

Moral Design

September 03, 2015 09:56 - 30 minutes - 28 MB

God has created the universe in line with his own character and nature. God's creation flourishes when it functions according to his design plan. This principle is applied to the moral design of the universe. We ultimately learn what the moral design of creation, what is right or wrong, good or evil as we are rooted in relationship with the Creator God of the Bible.

Design (Genesis 1 & 2)

August 24, 2015 16:16 - 29 minutes - 27.2 MB

God has created this universe and designed it to function in line with his own moral nature. He has designed us humans to freely know him, love him, be loved by him and enjoy him forever. We flourish when we choose to follow the design plan and wither when we neglect it.
