The Love of God

Escaping judgement, embracing mercy

The Old Testament book of Micah was written in the 8th century before the birth of Christ but its message is as relevant to us today as it was to Micah's original hearers.  In the first of a three-part series, Florence unpacks chapters 1 and 2 where God exposes and judges the sins of His unfaithful people but extends mercy to His faithful people.

The Undivided Heart (Haggai 2.10-19)

The loyalties of the believer are often pulled in all directions. The Lord calls us to be devoted to him with an undivided heart. His assurance is that when we make him our priority we gain not only him but also our life. His warning is that that if we make something other than God our priority, we risk losing him and everything else. As Augustine reminded the church, if Christ is not valued above all, he is not valued at all.

The Church is the family of God into which we are born when we come to faith in Christ. Ultimately it is impossible to come to full maturity as a Christian without participation in the Church. Cultivating Hope (Romans 5.3-5)

The biblical idea of of hope refers to a true and confident expectation we have in God that no matter what situation we walk into, with Christ Jesus we have all we need to rise and meet its demands; and because of Christ Jesus that we can confidently expect that the ultimate outcome will be good. Such hope is difficult to exercise. But it can be cultivated. It emerges as a consequence of a character forged through patient perseverance through inconvenience and even suffering.

Over the Rainbow

In the final message in the series on Noah, James reminds us of God’s faithfulness, looks into the future to see what lies ahead for planet earth and highlights what we can learn from the life of Noah.  

A whole new world

Noah, his family and all the animals were delivered from the flood inside the ark.  One year and ten days later God delivered them from the confinement of the ark and into a whole new world.  Noah’s first response?  Worship, the priority of the life of faith.  Join James for this, the third in the series on Noah, to find out more.

God gave Noah the incredible task of building an ark. 120 years later, the ark was finished. God told Noah to enter, because in seven days the flood would come.
