Wind knocks out power in the lower North Island

Two-and-a-half thousand homes are still without power in the lower North Island, with gales knocking down powerlines and lifting roofs. GNS picking up 'ghost' earthquakes

Ghost quakes can occur when a distant earthquake is picked up and identified as several small closer earthquakes.
