Multiple flights departing Wellington this morning have been cancelled or delayed after extremely strong winds ripped through the country last night.
Over 2,000 houses are still without power in the lower North Island, with gusts knocking down powerlines.
Gusts of up to 246 kilometres per hour were recorded.
