Judge Bars Against Asylum Ban

On November 9th, President Trump issued a proclamation that said anyone who crossed the southern border would be ineligible for asylum. Tuesday, a federal judge in San Francisco barred the Trump administration from refusing asylum to those immigrants, ruling that federal law allows anyone to demand protections once they reach U.S. soil.

ACLU Sues BPD

In order to access the Boston Police Department’s gang database, the ACLU of Massachusetts is suing the department. The civil right group says allegations of gang involvement are being used against Central American youth in immigration court and they need to look into the database to gauge the accuracy.

Parallels Between ICE and KKK?

Senator Kamala Harris compared the immigration law enforcement ICE to the Ku Klux Klan at a hearing to confirm President Trump’s nominee to run ICE. While speaking to Ronald Vitiello, the acting director of ICE, she asked if he was aware of the perception of similarities between ICE and the KKK. Friday, a man was arrested for mailing suspicious packages to high profile democrats and supporters of the party. Cesar Sayoc, a registered republican and Trump supporter, was taken into custody this morning, in Southern Florida. President Trump said "I am pleased to inform you that law enforcement has apprehended the suspect and taken him into custody. We must never allow political violence to take root in America." Is someone to blame for this? Have we lost all civil discourse?
