In this episode, Cheryl and Julie discuss:

The benefits of prioritizing social connections Your responsibility as a leader  The toxic leaders that you’ll never please Making people stay in your company

Key Takeaways:

Prioritizing social connections helps in many ways. It benefits people’s outlook toward work, their mental health, and the effectiveness of the business overall. It is your responsibility as a leader to make sure that people are motivated, that morale is up, and that people’s mental health is protected and enhanced by being in your organization. You need to make people feel seen and heard and that they matter.  There are some toxic leaders whom you will never get to please no matter how hard you work. The more we try, the more we lose pieces of ourselves, and sadly, it never works. It would be better to just focus on our own mental health.  Work is hard and we often have to have hard conversations at work. Integrate presence of mind and compassion into that conversation in order to create safety. Doing that will create an environment where people want to stay.

“Connection cleans culture… we want to be good people as leaders anyways, but also we all know we need to make income, we need to do well and human connection helps all of those things. It's just the right way to lead.”  —  Julie Lee
