Christ dawning

Zacharias prophesies over his son John, but the prophecy is almost entirely about Jesus Christ, the -Dayspring from on high-. In this sermon we see Christ dawning on a land shrouded with darkness. We are exhorted to seek Christ's light to banish the darkness in our soul and to grow in our appreciation that out of the tender mercies of God, He has sent our Savior and will never take Him away from us. In their affliction they will seek Me

The Lord says that He will withdraw Himself from His people until they confess their sin and repent with sincerity. We are exhorted to repent with sincerity and to turn to seek Jesus' face. From chastisement to praise

From Zacharias, we observe the effects of chastisement on the saint. That it is meant to be a mercy from God and to produce the fruits of righteousness to those who will be trained by it. Thy kingdom come

This evening we come to pray that the kingdom would advance. First in our own hearts and then in others, and that Christ would hasten the day when the kingdom of grace will blossom into the kingdom of glory. The spirit of harlotry

In this section of Hosea's prophecy, we hear of the -spirit of harlotry- which takes away the heart from the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a spirit we must always be on guard for it is ever present and seeking to take us captive - but the remedy to this spirit is to give your heart away to Jesus. Shepherd the church of God

The charge that Paul gave to the Ephesian elders is timeless and pertains to all who are elders and those who are seeking to be elders- a reminder that it is their calling to -shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood-. They shall eat but not have enough

In this section of Hosea's prophecy, we see that the pursuit of sin, idols, and the world will leave a soul empty, -they shall eat but not have enough-. Instead, to fill your soul, you must pursue Christ who promised, -I am the bread of life.
