Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

1,571 episodes - English - Latest episode: 23 days ago -

Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

Enriched To Be Generous S11e32 2cor9:11

November 03, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.42 MB

Send us a Text Message. We are stewards of the generosity of God.  He started the whole process by being generous with us in a myriad of ways.  He asks for a response to HIS generosity which is to be OUR generosity.   He tells us, if we do this right, He's gonna LOVE IT. And, in the meantime, in real time, HE'S IN IT.  He's doing His part in "making bread" and giving us the abilities to get resources and then to GIVE resources generously. We are enriched to be generous, because we were r...

O For The Love Of God S11e31 2cor9:7

November 02, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.09 MB

Send us a Text Message. We find out in today's podcast something that God LOVES.  We discover the HEART OF GOD.  We learn what PLEASES Him. Here it is: What I do with MY HEART in relation to giving.  Do I do the right thing  "deciding in my heart" regarding giving? How are the decisions of MY HEART related to pleasing GOD'S HEART. Join me for 7 minutes in listening carefully about something we can do "For the love of God". There is something that can be done in the decision of my heart th...

Proving Ready With$ S11e30 2cor9:3

November 01, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5 MB

Send us a Text Message. "My heart goes out to you."  Really? How so? Can I measure it? Can I quantify it?  Remember when the Grinch's heart grew 3 sizes?  Did it grow big enough to change his behavior and giving? Did it grow large enough to include other people in its' scope? Was the growth PROVABLE? Paul asks the same question of the Corinthians.  "Is your readiness, willingness and theoretical planning on giving now PROVABLE GIVING?" Let's see with real dollars to real people in real pl...

“I LOVE these Guys!” S11e29 2cor8:16

October 31, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.23 MB

Send us a Text Message. I hope that you are surrounded by people in whom God has done something remarkable in their HEARTS.  Then, I hope you get to SEE them weilding their gifts in the church.  Sometimes these places are SECRET, or at least UNSEEN.  This is the genius of God as it is worked out in His real people, in real churches. Today is a call towards the winsome, desirable, and admirable people of God.  I hope that you are a part of them in a real way, and by that I mean service. Pl...

Good Giving S11e28 2cor8:11

October 30, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.29 MB

Send us a Text Message. Good giving is modeled (by Christ) ongoing (you'll struggle with it this year and every year til you die) is primarily a matter of the heart(volitional) is primarily a matter of the hands(practical) is not compelled (it is voluntary, that's how it tests us) pleasing (God calls it acceptable) is real (we are talking about exactly what you have; not what you don't have) humble (we may some day be on the receiving end of someone's generosity) Join me for a 7 mi...

Don’t Miss This! S11e27 2cor8:1

October 29, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.48 MB

Send us a Text Message. Don't miss this truth. It is critically important.  It will benefit you and others. But wait! It is about MONEY and giving and generosity.   The Corinthians get compared with another church's example of GIVING.  They get some crazy math of: severe affliction + abundant joy + extreme poverty = overflowing generosity on their part.   Importantly, they didn't start their giving with their checkbooks.  First, they gave themselves to the LORD, then to LEADERS, then to t...

Refreshing Spirits S11e26 2cor7:13

October 28, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.04 MB

Send us a Text Message. All our little and big thoughts are done IN THE SIGHT OF GOD.  How we relate to our leaders is all bare for God to see.  We ask IF we will be "tended", and WHO will tend us before God's view. Sometimes our rebellion is known to everyone but ourselves.  We can be the last to know. Join me for 7 minutes as we think about our relationship to our spiritual leaders.  How can we best refresh the spirit of our spiritual leaders?  Thank you for even considering the questi...

I’ll Meet You In Godly Grief S11e25 2cor7:10

October 27, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.52 MB

Send us a Text Message. Worldly grief is the saddest thing in our world.  Godly grief is the best thing in the world.  The Corinthians are recognized and praised for 'doing grief right'.  There is a lot to learn about godly grief: it is primarily SELF grief; directed at my self-sickness it is a rebuke with RESULTS; it PRODUCES something; it is FRUITFUL grief it starts with agreeing with the FACTS it leads to FEELINGS of sorrow and then is a FORCE of change that leads to those good resu...

A Group To DIE WITH S11e24 2cor7:3

October 26, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.46 MB

Send us a Text Message. After recalling a hit-parade of God's promises, Paul tells us how to live. Because people are prickly, repentance and grief are going to be required both with God and man.   What caught my eye in today's passage was that the call to 'widen your hearts toward us' had a time stamp on it. That is, UNTIL DEATH.  Paul's commitment to this people group was until his end.  I suppose the call for some is to begin with the people of God. For others, the call is to STAY with ...

Unequal Yokage S11e23 2cor6:14

October 25, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.21 MB

Send us a Text Message. To the unmarried, un-yoked young people, my prayer is: "Let them have EYES FOR YOU and let them have EYES FOR OTHERS THAT HAVE EYES FOR YOU." This is the product of an indwelling reality. The reality is pretty awesome: Being the Temple of God; God making His dwelling  among us; God walking with us; He welcomes us; He will be our God and we His people. He will be a Father to us, and we sons and daughters to Him. OF COURSE this will have implications of who we make i...

Hearts Wide Open S11e22 2cor6:12

October 24, 2022 08:00 - 6 minutes - 4.18 MB

Send us a Text Message. Tough listen today. On a plane: We have to start with one of my favorite NT verses “In a day of salvation I have helped you.” Though something is required of the new believer, he or she is also getting divine assistance.  Heavenly Help comes at the moment of greatest need: the pointy end of spiritual conviction. Then Paul makes a list that his critics were using to DIS-qualify his ministry.  Instead, Paul uses these exact situations to ENDORSE his ministry.  He turn...

Divine Accounting S11e21 Isaiah53:11

October 23, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.31 MB

Send us a Text Message. There is a divine "ACCOUNTING" that is grossly in our favor.  From our standpoint, our sins are transferred to Jesus; His righteousness is accounted to us.  Good deal. From Jesus' position, though He was sinless, the Sins of believers were transferred to Him and His righteousness is imputed to all believers.  Bad deal. One of my responses is Yahoo! This divine accounting has worked out marvelously for me.  The other is grief; that such a costly rescue plan had to b...

Making Christ Sin Marred S11e20 2cor5:21

October 22, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.32 MB

Send us a Text Message. Jesus becomes something He was not (sin-marred) so we could become something we are not (right before God).  Jesus was found to be sin so we could be found in Him. Join me for 7 minutes as we swim in thunderously deep waters of wonder.  You'll see the HEART of God; The CREATIVITY of God; The ability of God; and the WILLINGNESS of God,  I know all the verses of the Bible are good, but this one is especially good. I don't want you to miss it.   Or tomorrow's podcast...

We’re Reconcile-ettes S11e19 2cor5:19

October 21, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.43 MB

Send us a Text Message. We are charged to be AMBASSADORS.  That is, we are to carry a message to the world.  The world is just a fancy term for one individual after another.  God comes primarily to people one at a time. The message is one of reconciliation.  We can be right with God and be restored.  Guess who wandered away?  Guess who violated the contract?  Guess who has a crime that needs to be paid for?   Today then, either BE reconciled, or if you are found in Christ as we meet this ...

Going ALL-IN On Jesus S11e18 2cor5:11

October 20, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.1 MB

Send us a Text Message. Paul goes ALL-IN with his relationship with Jesus.  He bets big.  He bets it ALL.   He commits to living a life of PERSUASION.  All his priorities center around a message of reconciliation with the Almighty.  He de-prioritizes profit, position, and appearances for the ongoing pounding home of the gospel.  He longs for his real home, that is HEAVEN, but in the meantime, as long as the Lord gives him breath, he's going to be faithful to persuading others to the winso...

1 PLACE Left On Bucket List S11e17 2cor5:8

October 19, 2022 08:00 - 5 minutes - 3.92 MB

Send us a Text Message. There is only one PLACE left on Paul's BUCKET LIST. And there is only one PERSON left on hist bucket list. Paul says he longs to be AWAY from here, so he can go to his real desire: to be HOME with The Lord. This earthly tent is a little groan-y.  Our heavenly home is one of glory. Join me as we hear Paul's desire to be really really HOME and finish his bucket list. Bewithme.us is where you go to sign up for a daily blast until we finish our bucket lists.

I Gotta Get Out Of This TENT S11e16 2cor 5:1

October 18, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.15 MB

Send us a Text Message. You currently live in a tent that is temporary and falling apart.  We appropriately groan to be out of such tents.  We long for a dwelling place that is just plain BETTER.  This is exactly what God has in mind. God has a BUILDING, that is ETERNAL, in a nicer NEIGHBORHOOD prepared for His family.  Best of all, you get to have God as your NEIGHBOR.  Who wouldn't long for such a place? Mortal dwelling tents are going to be swallowed up by life.  Our crappy physical co...

Losing Heart VS PREPARING our Heart S11e15 2cor4:16

October 17, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.2 MB

Send us a Text Message. You may be feeling like you have LOST HEART.  You certainly have good reason.  Our OUTER SELF is wasting away.  The non-soul part of us falling apart, made out of clay, afflicted, perplexed and struck down.  But wait! Those are also the very ingredients that can  be used to look past them into the eternal so that we are RENEWED. The same circumstance that could possibly lead to us LOSING HEART can also be the same circumstances that can PREPARE us for eternity. When...

Clay Pastors S11e14 2cor4:12

October 16, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 4.92 MB

Send us a Text Message. The context of the famous Jar of Clay passage is in light of CHRISTIAN WORKERS, specifically those occupying the office of Leader/Elder/Overseer/Shepherd/Teacher and probably here Apostle.  It is a difficult job that Paul in both INSUFFICIENT for and blessed with competence, call and capability for. The Pastor job is not without its' difficulty.  There is affliction, perplexing, persecution and a bit of striking.  No picnic, but there is preservation too.  They are ...

Mostly Jars Of Clay Today S11e13 2cor4:7

October 15, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 4.95 MB

Send us a Text Message. We get treasure, but we are JARS OF CLAY.  Both are spiritual "challenges" to get our head around.  Before we get to the treasure,( for who doesn't want a bit of treasure?), you gotta go through the JAR OF CLAY concept.  We are dust, We are dirt.  We are clay.  Pride fights this concept strongly.  But God doesn't.  He made us literally and figuratively out of it.  He is anything but surprised.  It is as if God says, "Yes, I KNOW you are clay, and I chose to have a r...

Capable, Competent,commissioned S11e12 2cor4:5

October 14, 2022 08:00 - 6 minutes - 4.58 MB

Send us a Text Message. What gives Christians the "right" to speak truth into the pointy-end of human conviction; to meet people where the rubber-meets-the-road spiritually? Is it our great abilities and wonderfulness?   Paul asks us to remember that we are servants who start as insufficient to this task.  But then the Lord calls us to the task at this critical hour.  He makes us spiritual servants capable, competent and commissioned to bring a message.  The ministry is by His mercy. Our ...

DON’T Be Like Moses S11e11 2cor3:13

October 13, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.34 MB

Send us a Text Message. We are to NOT BE LIKE MOSES in this way today: When we "see the face of God" we are not supposed to put a veil on it.  We are to be bold; be the glory for others to see. Like Moses, we are to SEE the glory of God; see His face; experience Him as we expose ourselves to Him in His Word and in His people. Like Moses, we are to BE CHANGED.  Experiencing the glory of God should make a difference.  We must be MARKED by Being-With-God. There should be some progressive tra...

Let’s Have A COVENANT COMPETITION S11e10 2cor3:9

October 12, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.49 MB

Send us a Text Message. Some people say, "I don't like the God of the Old Testament." What they are really saying is, "I don't like the COVENANT of the Old Testament." And you know what? I AGREE with them and so does Paul. He calls the Old covenant a stone cold killer; of the ministry of death; of the ministry of  condemnation; temporary; and yet: GLORIOUS.  It does represent the favor of God's attention, His intervention, and Him putting a big sign out saying: "Do NOT come this way!" In t...

Mailmen Of The Message S11e9 2cor3:5

October 11, 2022 08:00 - 6 minutes - 4.67 MB

Send us a Text Message. We are "mailmen" of God's letters.  They are now written on peoples' hearts.  God has come down. God now dwells within and helps us live our lives rightly. Who is sufficient to be such a message deliverer? On one hand, nobody; no pastor, no church member, no church officer, no degree holder or vestment wearer. But God asks and authorizes us to be involved in the pointy end of the spiritual life of messy people.  Our sufficiency then, is from Him.  He is the main me...

Jesus Smells Like Molasses Cookies S11e8 2cor2:15

October 10, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.25 MB

Send us a Text Message. Yesterday, my wife was baking something in the kitchen.  I didn't exactly know what it was but I knew that it smelled GOOD. Similarly Jesus asks us to "have the aroma" of Him.  As it turns out, Jesus smells an awful lot like MOLASSES COOKIES. Then He asks us to take His amazingly wonderful smell out to the world.  WE get to smell like Molasses Cookies. We take that aroma right to the heart of human decision and God's election; right to the critical moment of the ac...

Turn To Forgive S11e7 2cor2:7

October 09, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.07 MB

Send us a Text Message. This topic has to be in the top three of difficulty for the Christian walk. We best do it right, because it can wreck spiritual havoc without focused attention. Let's use the "breadcrumbs of our emotion" to find those whom we haven't forgiven. These are sinners who occupy too much of the real estate of our souls. Yes, they really did do something wrong. The call today is to forgive; to get off our piece of supposed-righteousness and TURN TO FORGIVE. It is letting G...

The Road To JOY! S11e6 2cor1:24

October 08, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.09 MB

Send us a Text Message. 7 minutes on the Road To Joy.  What could be better? What is the ROAD TO JOY paved with? For the Corinthians, it is paved with godly grief and repentance.   But it doesn't sound like being a Pastor is any picnic either.  Paul describes himself as afflicted, anguished of heart, and with many tears.   Why would the people and the pastor put themselves on such a painful path?  Why does anyone even go to church if it is a pain for the pastor and the people?  BECAUSE I...

The Trinity Helps Us S11e5 2cor1:22

October 07, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.32 MB

Send us a Text Message. All the promises of come true in JESUS. GOD the Father ESTABLISHES us in community, and attaches us to Jesus. In the meantime, the HOLY SPIRIT is the guarantee now of the parts of this that are in the future. Listen 7 minutes as we hear from all Persons of the trinity in assistance. May the jobs They are doing, help us in doing our jobs.  May you be attached to Christ and His people.  May your character be full the fruit of a real indwelling. May you be equipped for...

Christian Decision Making S11e4 2cor1:20

October 06, 2022 08:00 - 8 minutes - 5.55 MB

Send us a Text Message. Paul was a real person with limitations of time/space/money and distance.  He, like us, had to make daily decisions about what to do, where to go, and who to be with.  Here, he "changes his mind" as he assesses and rethinks previous plans.   There is stuff to learn and remember from seeing this process in Paul: He was ready and really did often speak HARD WORDS.  Paul had guts. He changed his mind amidst changing circumstances.  Just like you do. He had a heart f...

Help Me Rely Not On Me S11e3 2cor1:11

October 05, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5 MB

Send us a Text Message. If you are in the family of God and are suffering, you are not abnormal.  Christianity is a hard call.  The Corinthians preferred otherwise.  They wanted the "rainbows and puppies" of what we call the prosperity gospel. Paul reminds them of his suffering. He reminds them to expect suffering.  A walk with God that doesn't suffer in bearing with temptation, bearing burdens, and bearing in sufferings is not a real walk with God.   He then charges them with two big tas...

Chain of comfort S11E#2 2Cor1:3-5

October 04, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.25 MB

Send us a Text Message. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. Chain of comfort S11E#2 2Cor1:3-5  We have a “God of Comort” but not a comfortable God....

Messy Spiritual Formation S11e1 2cor1:3

October 03, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.47 MB

Send us a Text Message. Spiritual formation is a messy process.  We see this over time, with multiple "touches" by Paul.  He started with evangelizing and establishing the church at Corinth in 51AD.  He lived and worked there for 18 months while on his 2nd missionary journey. By the time we get to this letter of 2 Corinthians in 56AD, he's written 1 Cor, visited them again on his 3rd missionary journey and followed up with a "grievous letter" that we don't have. They are still asking abou...

16 Word Summary Of 1cor S10e80

October 02, 2022 08:00 - 8 minutes - 5.82 MB

Send us a Text Message. I've been accused of being more of a "lumper than a splitter." Here is the ultimate expression of those summary powers.  I've chosen 16 words, one each for the 16 chapters, that summarizes 1 Corinthians.  I know this might work best only in my little mind, but try with me: Divisions Trembling Growth UnPuff Judge Ownership Marriage Stumbling Rights Examples Despise Common Bear Limits Vain Service Listen 7 minutes (actually today goes 8 minutes which i...

Hugs & Kisses & Cursing S10e79 1cor16:20

October 01, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.18 MB

Send us a Text Message. 7 sets of hugs & kisses are sent from Paul as he concludes 1 Corinthians: The churches in Asia (you can read about them in Revelation 1-3) sends Hugs & kisses Your old friends Aquila and Prisca sends Hugs & kisses The Ephesian house church sends Hugs & kisses The whole brotherhood sends Hugs & kisses Paul sends Hugs & kisses (twice for good measure) The Lord sends Hugs & kisses and while we are at it, Hug and kiss yourselves there in Corinth. Contrasted with ...

Secret Service Of Christianity S10e78 1 Cor16:16

September 30, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.33 MB

Send us a Text Message. I don't mean that service should be secret.  In many ways, it is the furthest thing away from secret.  I do mean that it is one of the great secrets of Christianity.  It is a key to fellowship, encouragement and spiritual growth.   We serve because of what Christ did for us.   We serve devotionally.  That is we put our heart's desires practically into the order of our lives.  We serve the saints.  Our primary duty is to love the church.  First things first. We are s...

Put On Spiritual-Big-Boy-Pants On S10e77 1cor16:13

September 29, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 4.92 MB

Send us a Text Message. Be Watchful. Be Strong. Act like men! Put your spiritual BIG-BOY-PANTs on! Here's an uncomfortable thought. First, be watchful over YOURSELF. There is a lot of places we can get this spiritual walk wrong: in our thoughts, our habits, our outreach, etc. Oh and BTW, there are LIONS OUT THERE. Imagine if your favorite hiking park was also frequented by real-life LIONS.  It would certainly change the way you hike! It would change the way you walk, how you keep watch, h...

What to do With Limited Time S10e76 1cor16:9.mp3

September 28, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.19 MB

Send us a Text Message. If you could sketch out the remained of your life on the back of a napkin, what would it look like.  What places, people and purpose would you plan? Today, we get this glimpse of Paul's plans.  He is on this massive physical journey from Ephesus Turkey, to Corinth, Greece back to Jerusalem and then on toward Rome.  HE DOESN'T SURVIVE THE JOURNEY.  Newsflash: you won't survive yours either.  That is, we all have limited time here before entering eternity. So then th...

How To Give $ S10e75 1cor16:2

September 27, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.52 MB

Send us a Text Message. The Bible gives some very direct answers to practical question the Corinthians had.  They wanted to know about Sex and Marriage and got straight answers. #2 on just about everybody's list is MONEY.  What should I be doing about giving? Paul teaches it should be saved by everybody, laid aside on Sunday, and given in an orderly, planned way.  (Is it wise stewardship to give to the poor in your community via the guy with a cardboard sign?) It should be proportional to ...

My Superpower Is Work S10e74 1cor15:58

September 26, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.43 MB

Send us a Text Message. In a little while, "Death is swallowed up in victory".  So what?  That day doesn't look like today for me at least, so how should I live?  This is what we call SPIRITUAL WAITING. But waiting doesn't mean sitting around doing nothing.  In fact, there is stuff to do with our hands AND our heads. Our hands should be busy in the work of the Lord. It means abounding, with work left-over. Work should be your spiritual superpower. Spiritual waiting = excelling at working....

Death SWALLOWED Up In Victory S10e73 1cor15:54

September 25, 2022 08:00 - 6 minutes - 4.73 MB

Send us a Text Message. Here is a question that every human has a real answer for: "O Death, where is your STING?" Funerals, tears, grieving, wills, gravesite purchases, miscarriages, murders, cancer and emergency rooms are a very real part of our lives. We definitely feel the sting of death. But let's not stop there.  Today, we have one of the greatest promises in all of scripture to enjoy.  It's not exactly the gospel, but it is surely the result of the Gospel.  Here it is. DEATH IS SWAL...

Of The DUST…for Now S10e72 1cor15:52

September 24, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.21 MB

Send us a Text Message. It is no surprise to anyone listening to this podcast that we are of the DUST.  (Perishable, weak, flesh and blood) We bear the image of Adam...for now. In a moment, a "twinkling of an eye" timeframe, we are changed to bear the image of Jesus and carry it into a new world of heaven.   Why? because our old body cannot inherit what is ahead.  It's not equipped. Where? We are heading to a new heavenly home with the Person of God and the people of God Who? This happe...

“Beyond Category” Body S10e71 1cor15:42

September 23, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.27 MB

Send us a Text Message. Someday, you will get a body that is BEYOND CATEGORY.  It will be imperishable, raised in glory and power and somehow spiritual.  It is difficult for us to imagine, but God helps get us started... We have "different categories of creation" that we can understand.  Even my favorite 4 year old understands these categories.  Fish are different than stars. Animals are different than the moon.  Birds are of a different category than the sun.   We have all these categori...

What Happens To DEATH? S10e70 1cor15:27

September 22, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.33 MB

Send us a Text Message. Death is going to be "put under subjection", destroyed and defeated.  Tears will be wiped away  forever and death shall be no more.  Wow.  I cannot wait.  The question is, can I believe it when I cannot quite see it? Here is a supporting argument Paul makes. Even Jesus is "put under subjection" in the trinity.  There is order, functionality in the trinity for eternity.  Getting your head around this big concept makes the "death is under subjection" smaller in compar...

Why/when Is There EVIL? S10e69 1cor15:24

September 21, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.43 MB

Send us a Text Message. Have you ever thought this world was a bit upside-down? Had an interaction with death that was unpleasant? Seen an evil that made you cringe? Wondered WHY is there evil? If Christ wasn't raised, you can expect an eternity of the above.  However, if He really was raised, and the resurrection is true, then it has epic consequences for us: we get a future resurrection We get a future aliveness we get to say"I belong to Him" when faced with judgment we get to stay i...

Your Faith Is In VAIN S10e68 1cor15:12

September 20, 2022 08:00 - 6 minutes - 4.74 MB

Send us a Text Message. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is definitely worth a trip.  It was there that I saw, in 20foot high lettering, YOUR FAITH IS IN VAIN. I was unfamiliar with our verse today and my first thought was how harsh the designers of that dome were. But it wasn't the designers that were HARSH. It was Paul! It is him making an argument to the Corinthians.  He's saying, if Christ wasn't raised then: we have a false savior our preaching is in vain YOUR FAITH IS IN VAIN (...

I Work HARD S10e67 1 Cor15:10

Send us a Text Message. There is a tension in today's passage.  Paul basically says that "I stand in grace" therefore I WORK HARD.  He's getting to the heart of the idea of "what is an appropriate response to the favor of God?" For Paul, it is to WORK HARD. Listeners may find themselves today as disfavoring God; as late to the party or even a no-show; as an enemy of God.  If so, there is some hard "work" to do of belief. Or perhaps a listener has their butt in the spiritual butter tub of ...

Where Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World? S10e66 1pt3:4

September 18, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.49 MB

Send us a Text Message. Where are the most beautiful, most powerful women in the world? Vogue magazine? Nope. They are in the church, winning the battle for real beauty. Subjection is something all Christians do.  Submission is something that Jesus did. It is something that Wives do.  It is something the ancients did.   Why would I want to be subject to any One, any one? Doesn't it show weakness? Or is it power under control? Order By Silence S10e65 1cor14:35

September 17, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.51 MB

Send us a Text Message. Order in the gathered believers is sometimes demonstrated by silence.  Regarding the speaking gifts, in the gathered body, there is a limitation based on gender. Prophesy Results In CRUMBLING s10e63 1cor14:25

September 15, 2022 08:00 - 7 minutes - 5.28 MB

Send us a Text Message. God goes to great trouble to equip His church with leaders, and order, and teaching. Then He continues to work in real time with a leader in the service with spontaneous leadings and ideas and remembrances.  This is prophesy. The spiritual-bullets of prophesy are not without effect.  They hit their target. This results in a salvation process: COMING: unbelievers walk in the door CONVICTING: hearts are struck.  "Oh, what have I done?" acCOUNTING: "Wait. I have MANY...
