Topic: Respect is Earned not Forced

Note from Aimee J.: You will do amazing today!

Action: I was thinking about the word “respect” and how it is often used. One definition says that respect is the due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others. Another definition says it is the feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. The common theme with respect seems to be that it is in fact a feeling that is created in someone and not forced upon them. When you tell someone, “You will respect me” it does not create an honest representation of respect. People have gotten it mixed up and believe that because you hold a specific title or position then you are automatically due respect. Respecting a position and respecting a person are two different things. We should keep that in mind the next time we think we are owed respect.

Affirmations:

You are Awesome.

You are Loved.

You are Needed. And most importantly,

YOU ARE ENOUGH.
