Confession time: I recently discovered something about myself that was kinda shocking.

But first, I didn't know this about me until my almost 45th bday.

And I'm not proud of this but here it is:

I uncovered that I LOVE to get the last word, which is similar to my urges to watch Netflix and eat that extra slice of pizza even though I'm not hungry.

Can you relate?

If you relate to this, I've got a simple tool that will change everything.

It's the difference between life happening at you (i.e. the boss is horrid, work is boring, I don't have enough time) AND being grounded in peace, ease, and boss-hood.

It was a game-changer for me.

Here's how it works: the trick is to see BEYOND the urge to get the last word, watch Netflix, and eat the pizza.

I teach you how to show your brain the full story, not just the feeling of "but i haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave to have this."

See the full movie play out: my insisting on the last word can lead to a conflict with a loved one that lingers along with guilt and a touch of shame, a Netflix binge can lead to an unattended to-do list and less sleep, and that extra pizza slice can lead to not fitting into any clothes.

Once we show our brain the unintended results of our urges, we get to choose with our adult brain what we really want to do next.

Listen.

Sometimes I still insist on that last word!, but I do it from a place of CHOICE, INTENTION, and acceptance that those feelings of sadness, guilt, and shame that will follow the escalated conflict with my mom will be mine to own.

I get to choose on purpose.

It is the most beautiful and empowering vantage point.
