A quick disclaimer that I am not against medication and I am truly grateful for the existence of them. I do not advocate that you stop taking your prescribed medication without speaking to your healthcare providers. However, I do think that medication is being over-prescribed and over-used. In our current society of instant gratification, the prescription pad and pills have become the first-line tool in every condition. Not to mention that in certain situations, the pills being prescribed are not targeting the main problem and each pill comes with its own set of side effects. This leads to more pills prescribed to counter the side effects of previous pills. More often than not, in our current medical model, pills are prescribed without diving deeper into other lifestyle factors or other root causes that one has. Sometimes, medication isn’t the answer to the problem. Sometimes, medication isn’t the right answer, and sometimes, it could even be the wrong answer.
