The War in Ukraine

Dustin Washington and Martin Friedman come together to talk about the war in Ukraine in our new podcast. Together they share their thoughts on the current leaders’ egos, and how ego can effect their decision making. The current conflict in Ukraine presents the perfect opportunity for western countries to have an us against them mindset. Dustin stresses the importance of moving out of this mindset and moving towards seeing people for who they truly are. The war has caused many of us to have a disconnect from what is going on in Ukraine because we can’t see ourselves in those people. Dustin shares some beautiful advice on how to see this war as an opportunity to grow. He believes that by witnessing this current war you can observe the lack of humanity by world leaders, and find the areas in your life that could use more love.

Dustin and Martin move on to talk about the value of human life in wars. Dustin and Martin agree that the value of human life goes down when entering a war. Leaders send armed forces to other countries for economic benefit sometimes, and don’t care how many lives are lost in the process. Over time both men have seen multiple wars covered on the news and they have observed the way human lives are discussed as expendable. Dustin remembers vividly that the coverage of the Iraq War on most news channels portrayed the war as violent and thrilling. He felt that the U.S. was almost celebrating that they were in another country killing other human beings. There will always be another war as long as we are all stuck in ego.
