Let’s talk self-care and mental health. Kristen Howerton, writer and psychotherapist, is joined by her longtime pal Matthias Roberts, psychotherapist, side-eye aficionado, and dog dad, as they tackle the tricky and often elusive aspects of caring for ourselves. Their weekly conversations explore questions like: Can self-care be for everyone? How do I get enough sleep? What aspects of my personality make self-care tricky? And what’s in this face mask? From the silly to the serious, Kristen and Matthias are taking a vulnerable and often humorous look at body, mind and spirit . . . all while looking at the distractions and defenses that keep us from caring for ourselves like we should. Like that 6pm deadline butting up against 6:30pm soccer practice.

This is my favorite episode of Selfie so far because 1) our conversation about pubic hair was so cringey and hilarious that my cheeks hurt from laughing, and 2) our conversation about detachment with Bj Hickman was full of life-giving lightbulb moments about relationships and detaching from people pleasing. In this episode we take a deep dive (ooph) into pubic hair and some of the challenges of hair removal in this delicate area, sharing our own experiences with lasers, waxing, shaving, trim...

Multi-tasking is a mother’s work

June 22, 2017 14:00 - 199 KB Video

This post was sponsored by Clorox Parenting means multitasking. With four kids, this is true every single day. I'm often trying to do two things at once because I just don't have enough hours in the day. It's the end of the school year, too, which means there are even more activities than usual. Recorder concerts, awards breakfasts, marching band appearances, class parties, soccer tournaments . . . it feels like I often need to be in two places at once. Case in point, this was my actual Sun...

This post is in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures. We've all been there - your kid shows a passion for something, and you go to great lengths to make their dreams come true. Whether it's overpaying for a space-themed summer camp or lining them up for drum lessons with the local rock-star teacher, we've all gone to extremes to try to be the hero for our kids.
