’Tis the season for thinking of family and friends, for gifting, giving, and generosity. For the holidays, we generally think of bows and packages in wrapping paper. Of course, these gifts cost money and we should try to be responsible with the way we spend throughout the holidays. On a larger scale, we should also consider our ongoing financial impact through gifting and giving strategies to family, as well as any outside gifts, giving, or donations we make to charities, churches, or organizations. We are in the midst of what has been dubbed the “Great Wealth Transfer” as the accumulated wealth of one generation of Americans transfers to the next. We should think proactively and plan strategically for how our wealth will be effectively preserved, protected, and utilized both during our lifetime, and after. Let’s talk about planning for the holidays, planning for retirement, and gifting, giving, and donating our wealth.
