Peter Hill Explains

573 episodes - English - Latest episode: over 3 years ago -

You are welcome to listen in as I "explain things scientific". I have had great fun with lasers, robots and absorbing Quantum Physics. Now as a classroom teacher, laid low by heart surgery its time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and give it all you've got. "And in the mean time keep on doing science"

Quantum Entanglement reality check

September 06, 2019 07:27

We beam me up Scotty is right out, This is arguably the worst explained and most intensely interesting area of Physics. It is not that hard to produce 8 entangled photons. I am actually skeptical about quantum cryptography from an ethic point of view in that secrets usually means someone is not meant to know something which is such a very human thing to do. This man is just off scale productive, he is almost straight out of US comic books for the amount of stuff he achieved. I am blown away, too much to believe. MP4 recording     MP3 recording Your browser does not support the audio element.

He gets elected in a tie, and it is a real farce not being able to make up their minds until they have the best deal out of both of them. The Louisiana purchase and Napoleon is just totally random un analyzable history. That is never going to be repeated again. Quantum Teleportation -

September 06, 2019 04:12

Well I find it hard to believe in a 3D polarization and the qutrit just on mathematical grounds. At any rate the detail had the inevitable transfer by email to decode the message sent instantaneously. I just think it is far more mind-blowing to have open the email authored last year to decode something say measured just moments before. It is probably worth a listen. I am going to research the Higgs boson as there is far more deep science there MP4 recording     MP3 recording ...

A quite amazing story. He was really a practical philosopher. It is so cool how he came up with the text for the declaration of independence. There is so much amazing luck happening here . So many contradictions. MP4 recording     MP3 recording Your browser does not support the audio element.

Negative Review of Alexander Hamilton

September 03, 2019 04:12

If there is one thing the world has learnt is to try and avoid annoying the US. So it with this in mind that truth has really got the better of me and I have to admit I did not like what I heard. I don't think that was an issue with the writers. "Oh, what about the all important Australian demographic". So all said and done, I thought he was a pretty morally reprehensible character and I found the lyrics "No one was in the room when it happened" would be appropriate for a painting falling d...

Recollections of a New Scientist Issue_

September 03, 2019 04:11

It may seem dumb but I really have to train my memory by reading and having detailed recall. So these are the articles I read, most of it is pretty low quality science, although the general side bits of information are really pretty essential knowing. Recollections of YouTube

September 03, 2019 04:11

So very hard for me to recall image after image of cool science. It is all going in but the recall on command is high. The hydrogen bomb egg is just awesome. I cant wait to try the exploding sugar in hot water. It seems so wrong as people's coffee doesn't explode when they heap in those calories. The idea that spark plug ceramic which I think is zirconium will shatter tempered glass is just mind blowing. Sorry, you can see it, but I talk about it. MP4 recording     MP3 recording ...

Information Theory for QM

August 30, 2019 07:22

This August 24 New Scientist article is light on detail- there might be a theory if we look elsewhere. I think there is something on the idea of a sky of events passing through your now. It is clear that there is a fundamental pixel size of information expressed by Planck's constant. The time integral of the Lagrangian is the action and I feel that this in someway goes to answer why this is so. Perhaps I was not cluey enough to see the proof for why the systems obey this law of selecting the...

What's happening with Rehab

August 30, 2019 07:21

This is a story (on going) of rehab from barely being able to string thoughts together, through just podcasting and then building software and looking at new horizons. You've seen the dancing duck... there is more in store. MP4 recording     MP3 recording Your browser does not support the audio element.

Microsoft James Reads The Night Kittens

August 27, 2019 01:13

This is a support document for a research paper about using digital sensors in school. As I am rehab I discover real deficits, poor listeners they are probably all to obvious. However, editing text is a real challenge. I discovered Microsoft James in Review read aloud makes a difference. It think the subject matter, how digital sensors communicate information is really important. Writing for kids has to have a bit of show and intrigue to keep them listening. The execution, well I have been so...

Quantum Vultures read by computer

August 26, 2019 06:18

What can I say, just getting word to read aloud forces clean up. I can see the rehab shining through just as I slog away and away. I like it because it mechanically works the students working memory. It is so wrong in so many ways. George and Viola Lay an egg. George and Viola have been friends for a long time. They are two of the most caring nano-vultures you will ever meet. Let me tell you where they live. They live in a forest but being very small they live in a clump of grass on the...

Big Bang needs evidence

August 24, 2019 07:39

17 August article points out that the period of super expansion at the very start of the Big Bang call inflation is a theory in tatters. I find the alternative a little hard to believe, but it is all hard to believe really. The idea is that contraction is super slow and controlled. At the end of the day it looks like the real evidence is that there is no evidence. Very nice introduction to the article. MP4 recording     MP3 recording Your browser does not supp...

On eating your library book
