17 August article points out that the period of super expansion at the very start of the Big Bang call inflation is a theory in tatters. I find the alternative a little hard to believe, but it is all hard to believe really. The idea is that contraction is super slow and controlled. At the end of the day it looks like the real evidence is that there is no evidence. Very nice introduction to the article.
