Learning how to calm anxiety with acceptance can be a powerful tool for stress management.
In today's episode, mental health therapist Frank Sasso, discusses the neuroscience behind the  brain's fight or flight system and how  amygdala  accelerates anxious symptoms.  With that said, he also mention how alcohol can make anxiety feel worse.

When we perceive a future threat the body releases stress hormones through  adrenal glands  which contribute to the physical symptoms of anxiety. This can include having a rapid heart rate along with shortness of breath. It's always important to consult with a medical doctor when you have a health concern.

Mindfulness based approaches help us to live in the here and now. We can notice our anxious thoughts without judgement or without chasing them down the rabbit hole of worry.  The good news is anyone can learn this natural approach for remaining calm during difficult times.

During the show I referred to Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I accidently pronounced MCBT.

You will also hear from a listener who is struggling with motivation to workout after being isolated due to the pandemic.
