Meet Pinky, a new mom to baby Isla and an absolute rockstar.  Pregnancy, labour and being a new parent is NOT easy, as we’ve so clearly seen with all of our birth story series episodes. In Pinky’s episode we dive deep into hers (and Kelly’s) experience with gestational diabetes and how it can affect your mental health and everyday life.  We cover Pinky’s diagnosis of cholestasis, a liver condition, and the fight we unfortunately have to fight when it comes to advocating for ourselves medically, and listening to our gut when we feel like something isn’t right.  Pinky took her health into her own hands after being diagnosed earlier in life with major depressive disorder as well as having a physical disability in order to make sure she was all set emotionally, physically and mentally before getting pregnant.  All of that did not prevent pregnancy from being an absolute roller coaster of emotions and complications.  We were full of questions for Pinky,  especially with the pandemic going on…SO get comfy and buckle up for this ride.
