Previous Episode: Seven Last Words: Forsaken

This Sunday, March 4, the Rev. Alex Shanks, Assistant to the Bishop of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, will be preaching. He helped lead our recent "Point of View" conversation. He will continue with our sermon series on the "Seven Last Words" of Jesus spoken from the cross. This week we will look at Jesus' fourth word found in John 19:28-29: "'Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, 'I am thirsty.' A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. The title of the message is, "Thirst." Part of our sermon series, *The Seven Last Words of Jesus,* in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives.
