Next Episode: Seven Last Words: Thirst

Part of our sermon series, *The Seven Last Words of Jesus,* in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives. This Sunday, February 25, we will continue with our sermon series on the "Seven Last Words" of Jesus spoken from the cross. This week we will look at Jesus' fourth word found in Mark 15:33-34: "At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means 'My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?'" This word startles us and seems to present us with an abrupt shift from Jesus' words spoken for others. What does it mean for Jesus, God, to be forsaken by God? How does this impact us as followers of Jesus? The title of the message is, "Forsaken."
