Previous Episode: Seven Last Words: Assured

Part of our sermon series, *The Seven Last Words of Jesus,* in which we will reflect on the last phrases that Jesus uttered on the cross and what they mean for our own lives. This Sunday, February 18, we will continue with our sermon series on the "Seven Last Words" of Jesus spoken from the cross. This week we will look at Jesus' third word found in John 19:26-27: "When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, 'Dear woman, here is your son.' And he said to this disciple, 'Here is your mother.'" And from then on this disciple took her into his home." We see again in this third word from the cross how Jesus is thinking of others as He dies. In the fullness of both His human and divine natures Jesus creates a new family of faith by asking His mother and best friend to care for one another. When we step over the line of faith in Christ, this becomes one of our key callings, too. We must love one another. It's not a suggestion. The title of the message is, "Here."
