In today’s episode of Negotiation In Real Life, I speak with Vik Pillay, a senior associate at Rankin Business Lawyers.  Vik is a dispute resolution lawyer who is qualified to practice law in England & Wales, Singapore and Australia. His practice focuses on an early resolution of disputes and a keen eye for extenuating circumstances which may prevent the resolution of a dispute. Vik started off his practice in shipping, transport and logistics law, and currently assists businesses with all business-related disputes.

In his down time, Vik loves the aviation industry - he can sit for hours watching planes land and take off. Next in his sight, is a private pilot's licence. He loves reading about infrastructure projects - the high speed railway revolution in China, the metro builds in various cities across India, and fantasising about major projects and the impact on communities around the world. He also loves badminton, hiking (on a fairly cold day - he dislikes the heat), long road trips, and of course food!

In our discussion, we talk about ...

Dealing with multiparty negotiations
Managing tough opening offers
Getting the right people to the table
Treating your opponents as individuals
Dealing with a power imbalance
Negotiations across cultures
The dangers of relying on stereotypes

... and much, much more.
