After the last few weeks we have had, do you need a WARM HUG, a GOOD CRY and some LAUGH-OUT-LOUD FUN? I got all three with my friend and community leader, Shawneece Stevenson. This week, we tackle community advocacy and social support for parents and children in a time when there is division and disconnection at every turn.

Shawneece Stevenson is a wife, mom of two teenagers and a college student on the Peninsula. She’s a social worker and newly elected Board of Trustee, Sequoia Union High School District (to be confirmed December 16, 2020). Civic engagement is important to her (and her children!) and ensuring diverse voices are heard and understood, especially in early care, disabilities and special health care needs, education, and community engagement. She recently started a new company, Spark&Passion, a personal coaching and consulting service.  But most importantly, she has a heart for addressing health disparities and supporting parents, children and families.
