About Angelica Alen: She is a lifestyle and wellness coach, online educator and podcaster. When Angelica was 38 years old she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Bowel Cancer and that inspired her to study everything she could to learn more about her illness and discover what she could do about it. After going through multiple surgeries and sessions of chemotherapy, she discovered the value of health, self-love and listening to the body. Now she’s a coach who teaches entrepreneurs and others how to avoid burnout and also how to make their lives better physically, emotionally, and spiritually through making small changes in their life.

In this episode, Adam and Angelica discuss:

Surviving Stage Three Bowel CancerPrioritizing self-care as a parent Putting your attention back to the present moment

Key Takeaways:

The darkest places in our lives gives us an opportunity to be inspired to live a better life. Studying meditation is not only for monks, it’s for everyone and can be done by anyone just by sitting down and being silent for a few minutes. Meditation can help you stay in the present moment, and there are a lot of scientifically-proven benefits to doing that.

"I’m not saying I never get any stress, but the way I get stressed now is that… I am much more aware of when it’s happening and there’s… a way to manage it a million times better than I had before, I have more tools now and that has all to do with my meditation practice." —  Angelica Alen
