In this episode, Cheryl and Michael Hudson discuss:

Getting the most out of experienced moments When will your story come to you?  Practicing curiosity, humility, and empathy  Finding your lessons below the line

Key Takeaways:

We experience moments that have more value than we realize. We have to be fully engaged and present for us to experience the magic of the moment, we have to reflect the moments in our journey for us to see the lessons.  The story comes together in a way that serves you when you’re ready to hear it, receive it and understand it. It can’t come sooner.  Practice the three disciplines: curiosity, humility, and empathy. Finding your backstory starts with the humility to recognize that it’s not about your backstory, it’s about how people will benefit from it. Bite your tongue every time you have a parallel story. Instead, listen to the other person and ask good questions.  Break up your life into segments of decades, draw a line for each. Figure out the three most significant positive things that happened in each decade and write it above the line, then, figure out the three significant things that didn’t go so well in each decade and write it below the line. You’ll find that most meaningful lessons come from below the line.

“I believe that our purpose in the world is to figure out what those lessons we earn mean because there are other people that need them and I believe that they can only learn it from us.”  —  Michael Hudson
