Catholic mom, Catholic women, and ALL friends seeking God- WELCOME!  This is a podcast designed to provide my fellow sisters in Christ with encouragement and support for the beautiful and difficult journey of living out our vocations. Truth is that motherhood, marriage, and living out our feminine genius are incredibly hard endeavors. Yet, through the perseverance of pursuing all that is good, true, and beautiful we are tenderly being transformed into vessels of God's love, one tiny dish, meeting, or dirty diaper at a time.

So, join me, Suzanne - homeschooling momma of 6, every week as we journey together with a Mary & Martha mission towards "stilling our souls WHILE moving our world."  Together, let's sit at the feet of Christ like Mary, while moving with the gusto and strength of Martha! Join me and my friends as we laugh, cry, dive deep, and explore with one another as navigate wifehood, motherhood, and sisterhood with our eyes on Christ.

The Eucharist

August 30, 2022 08:00 - 33 minutes - 22.9 MB

“Jesus and all the treasures of heaven are ours on the altar.” This week Sara joins me once again to discuss conference number 9 of I Believe in Love, on the Eucharist.  Father Jean shares the beauty and glorious gift of Jesus in the Eucharist .  “The Mass is the divine act around which the lodge of the Church gravitates and of which she is the radiance; the center from which she receives all impulses and toward which she is continually directed; the living source from which she proceeds an...

82. The Cross

August 23, 2022 08:00 - 36 minutes - 25.1 MB

“The  most beautiful smiles are those which shine through tears, that we give in spite of ourselves “ This week Sara and I discuss the often heavy, but yet so beautiful cross. This is one of my favorite chapters of  I Believe in Love, baca use it is in learning how to willingly carry our crosses that we begin to most closely resemble cross glorifier himself, Christ! Discussion Questions: 1. “A great cross is, very often, the prelude to a great grace, even for an unbeliever. Suffering ripe...

The Apostolate

August 16, 2022 08:00 - 37 minutes - 25.9 MB

"The charity of charities is the Apostolate" As we continue our book study on I Believe in Love, we explore what it means to live the life of an apostle. Father Jean says, "To be an apostle is to give Jesus to souls and souls to Jesus by making Him known in order to make Him loved, by filling yourself with Him in order to give Him, according to the beautiful definition of Father Mateo, 'An apostle is a chalice full of Jesus which overflows onto souls.' I'm not sure about you friends, but m...

80. Fraternal Charity

August 09, 2022 08:00 - 39 minutes - 26.8 MB

“Learn  from me because I am meek and humble of heart.” Father Jean points out that here, in Matthew 11:29, it is the only time that Jesus explicitly tells us to learn from him. And why? To show us that fraternal charity doesn’t begin with money in our pockets, or time spent to serve, but instead if starts from  the posture of our hearts, a meek and humble posture. This week Sara Hunter and I continue our book study conversation of I Believe in Love, on the most recent chapter on Fraternal ...

79. Great Desire, Humility, & Peace

August 02, 2022 08:00 - 43 minutes - 29.6 MB

“Routine, terrible routine is the daughter of apathy. In order to rise out of mediocrity and lukewarmness, RENEW YOUR DESIRES” This week, Sara and I dive head first into Chapter 5 of I Believe in Love , and we discuss the hidden importance of having a thirst and desire for Christ. This can seem intimidating, especially when we can become so aware of our broken and sinful ways. Yet, it is often precisely through an acknowledgment of our own littleness, as St. Therese so beautifully lived out...

78. Abandonment to Jesus

July 26, 2022 08:00 - 42 minutes - 29.3 MB

Today we continue with conference 4, or chapter 4, of I Believe in Love on Abandonment in Jesus. Webster Dictionary defines abandonment as “an unrestraint, or being uninhibited.” This is precisely how Jesus desires that we come to him; with a radical, unrestrained, and uninhibited reckless trust and love. But practically speaking what does this look like? Father Jean says “Practically speaking, it consists of seeing the will of God in all that creatures and events present to you” and as S...

Unshakeable Confidence

July 19, 2022 07:00 - 32 minutes - 22.2 MB

How easy and often we can become discouraged at our continued sinful nature. When we run to Christ with the same tears of sorrow and regret we can be tempted to think, “Aren’t you tired of me God?” But the short answer is NOT EVEN CLOSE! When we distrust his forgiving heart we subconsciously limit his mercy. Yes, we must know and acknowledge our weakness and limitations, BUT with unshakable confidence of knowing we are loved through the merciful lense of God’s perfect heart. St. John Viann...

July 12, 2022 08:00 - 41 minutes - 28.6 MB

Webster dictionary defines confidence as “the quality or state of being certain.” Are you certain of your Heavenly Father’s goodness? Are you confident in his ceaseless love for you? Understanding and believing in the greatness of God and his tender care for us begins with an awareness of our own littleness. St. Therese understood this profoundly. She knew she was weak and imperfect but trusted that it would be Christ himself, and not by her own efforts, that would lift  her to the heights...

Hey Friends - today is just a short episode to introduce the book we will be journeying through this summer. This book has often been a lifeline for me over the years. My copy is tattered, torn, highlighted, written in, and splattered with coffee stains. The teachings of St. Therese of Lisieux are simple, yet profound and I cannot wait to explore it further with you all! Hope you all have a blessed week! 73. Homeschooling: Will They be Socialized?

June 21, 2022 08:00 - 34 minutes - 23.8 MB

Hey friends! This week I dive in a little deeper around a question I hear all the time, and was one of the biggest questions many people asked us before we started homeschooling, which is "Will they be socialized?" The simple answer is YES my friends, beyond your wildest dreams. But the greater question shouldn't be whether or not they will be socialized if homeschooled, but rather how they are being socialized, whether at home or at school. Hope you all have a blessed week friends! "Ho...

72. Detachment

June 14, 2022 08:00 - 32 minutes - 22.1 MB

"He who would be serene and pure needs but one thing, detachment" One of the greatest secrets to experiencing the joy of Christian living is tasting the goodness of detachment. From a secular perspective, detachment is simply the opposite of attachment. Yet, our Catholic faith speaks of the hidden mystery of detachment when it expresses it as a simple disposition of indifference.  Indifference can often imply not caring about, a coldness or lack of compassion, but in truth it is merely "the...

71. God Makes No Mistakes

June 07, 2022 08:00 - 35 minutes - 24.2 MB

Each child is uniquely and perfectly crafted by our Heavenly Father. Yet, far too often, beginning from an early age, we mommas often feel the pressure of making sure our children conform to some arbitrary standard. It isn't necessarily that we desire to change who our children are, but rather that we operate out of a hidden fear that our children will suffer if they don't fit inside the world's box. But newsflash friends, God made no mistakes when he wonderfully knit your child within you...

Live Simply So You Can Simply Love

June 04, 2022 08:00 - 30 minutes - 20.6 MB

In this episode I speak to one our greatest challenges in western culture, and that is to LIVE SIMPLY.  We are often far too anxious, worried, and preoccupied because our schedules are too full and possessions too many.  In order to be free to receive the peace of Christ  we must strip ourselves of anything that steals our capacity to love. God gently says “live simply so you can simply love” “The more you have, the more you are occupied. The less you have, the more free you are." —St. Te...

May 17, 2022 08:00 - 24 minutes - 16.9 MB

Guilt and shame are often used interchangeably, yet they are two very different emotions: “Guilt is a feeling you get when you did something wrong, or perceived you did something wrong. Shame is a feeling that your whole self is wrong, and it may not be related to a specific behavior or event” Guilt can be a good that leads us to regret, repair, and reconciliation,  often sending us into the arms of Christ, while shame is often accompanied with darkness and a disposition that turns our hea...

Is our cup full of dirty water that has been muddled with anger, resentment, comparison or greed, so that when the world bumps us , which it will, this is what comes spilling out? April 26, 2022 08:00 - 20 minutes - 14.1 MB

God gives us the opportunity to give him our fiat hundreds of times each day. Yet, this was not Mary’s only “Yes” that she presented to our Lord. No, in fact Mary ‘s whole life was one long fiat where she lived out a perfect acceptance of and cooperation  with God’s plans.  We too have the opportunity to present our Lord with our fiats on a...

I was delighted to sit down and chat with my friend Stephanie Weinert about this gift of self-love as well as the grace in grief that our Lord so desires to pour out upon us.
