We have to thank producer Chris for this topic!

How does your CrossFit coach know your limits and push you past them?

There are a lot of factors that can impact your workout performance. Fatigue, muscle soreness, hydration and more can factor in your performance. These change from day to day and from workout to workout.

As coaches we are always observing our athletes and making a mental note of movement, pacing and fatigue. We make adjustments to the workout based on what we see and what we know about our athletes.

One way to make our job easier is to log your workout performances. Knowing a previous load or performance gives us  valuable information. We can set appropriate loads, suggest AMRAP targets and pacing. It also gives you feedback on your workout performance. Like we say, if you can track it, you can change it.

Of course a lot of limitations are self-imposed. Many times we're talking our athletes off the CrossFit ledge. You can always do more than you think you can. It's our job to set new, achievable goals that will boost your confidence.

So trust us when we suggest a heavier load (or lighter!). We've been observing and know what you are capable of!

FYI - the "thunderstick" is a classic Greg-ism for the plunger!
