Kimberly is currently studying for her veterinary social work certificate.
Q & AWhy is self love so important?
Because love starts from within. If we don’t have it, we can’t give it.
What was the number one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love?
I would say the one thing holding me back was a lot of self judgement or “shoulds.”
Who is one person who has changed your life for the better?
My grandmother. She was incredibly optimistic, despite difficulties.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
“Let it go.”
What is a self care habit that you practice regularly?
Baths. Especially this time of year. I sprinkle in a little bit of sweet almond oil.
Do you have a favorite quote?
“Spend the days the way you want to spend your life.” Annie Dillard.
Can you share with us a resource or an app that we can use to help our own self care practice grow?
Laura Vanderkam, who wrote 168 Hours, has a downloadable spreadsheet to help you examine where your time is going.
What book are you reading right now?
If the Budda Got Stuck, by Charlotte Kasl
What is the one thing that you are most passionate about?
Garth Brooks. I’ve been to 13 of his concerts. And pigs. I’m kind of obsessed with pigs.
