When Derek's father passed away in November of 2020, there was naturally a period of grief and not sleeping well. However, when sleep was still choppy some weeks later, Derek started educating himself but unfortunately learned little that made sense. He found himself in an intense struggle and his partner no longer recognized the happy and energetic Derek she had gotten to know.
