Here I discuss why the trauma we're holding is so much bigger than just us and the people that reflect their toxic traits and behavours onto us. It's easy to look back on our experiences and see ourselves as a victim and the person treating us like shit as the villian. While there is no excuse for toxic behaviour - it's important to see the bigger picture. The villian in your story was once a victim in their own. Behaviour is improved and patterns can be broken when we are able to see the role we all play in the cycle of building upon generations. Shit may have happened to us that is never okay, but its our responsibility to use those experiences to better ourselves, improve our relationships and stop the pattern of generational trauma in its tracks. We can't change the past, but by chosing to process our experiences in an empowering way, not only are we helping ourselves - but we're building a better future for others too!
