This week on Finding Her, Julia introduces the community to Jais Curry.  She is a coach in the health and wellness space and has been researching and helping women in the area of body image and disordered eating. Jais openly shares her story and her struggle with body image and disordered eating since she was young. It was in college that her struggle continued with weight and how she had to meet certain standards and size to pass the physical training test. Julia and Jais discuss body positivity, disordered eating, dieting, and how we are often left with feelings that we relate to being "broken". Both Julia and Jais share their feelings and stories associated with body image and how we tend to run away from our issues only to reunite with them in the future. Awareness is key and taking the first step and continuing on this journey will bring you out of feeling "broken" allowing you to come out of your comfort zone. This will in turn help you apply new skills to combat feelings of unworthiness or shame (to name a few). Education and awareness are key to change, Remember no one is "broken". Jais shares her technique of becoming present three times a day:1. set your phone alarm for three separate times per day.2. When the timer goes off stop what you are doing 3. Take three deep breaths4. 3-5 minutes to do this exercise This tip will allow you to reground and refocus but also teach you how to be present and be in the moment.
