Hello and welcome to episode 21 of Ditch The Small Talk. My name is Denean and this is a weekly podcast, where I speak to people about their mental health. So. How has your week been? In the spirit of being honest, it has been a pretty tough couple of weeks. I’ve been feeling down for no reason, worried about almost everything and getting those feelings of dread again but I’ve also had some great times. I took a week off work recently (here’s a tip: don’t go four months without taking time off work) and I had a great week. I caught up with up my friends and family, made no all day plans, and I spoke to my guest this week. Now, one of the reasons why I started this podcast was because I wanted to see and hear more women of colour talking about their mental health and have conversations. So I’m really happy to introduce this conversation with this week’s guest: Marverine Cole. Marverine is a news reader, radio producer and the host of a BBC Radio 4 documentary called Black Girls Don’t Cry, where she speaks to many black women about their experiences with suffering from mental health issues as well as her own experiences and the effects of the media. I hope that you enjoy it. Don’t forget to rate and subscribe!
