I'm beyond excited to have Chelsey on the show today! She is a licensed mental health therapist, specializing in helping women in their 20's, and the host of "Your Almost Therapist" podcast!

Let's start with 3 ice breaker questions:
Q1: What is your go-to Karaoke anthem?
A: Don't Stop Believin'

Q2: What is something you purchased recently that you are loving?
A: Lavender oil that I've put in roller tubes!

Q3: Best piece of advice you've gotten?
A: Life will keep giving your the same lessons until you learn what you need to know.

Now let's dive into the conversation of living through, what can feel like the s*** show of being in our 20's! Chelsey reminds us that being in our 20's might just be one of the hardest decades we go through and where we learn so many tough lessons.

She experienced this in her sophomore year of college when she started dealing with mental health and depression. The shame that surrounded it was heavy and she carried it alone for a long time, as so many of us do.

Shame is something that grows in silence and often we equate it to "I am not enough" and that is difficult to move through. Reminder, you are not alone and it's hard but important to open up the conversation around it.

Chelsey shares her own experience with shame and how her depression led to her seeking help from a friend and ultimately being hospitalized. She describes this as her rock bottom and her turning point when she realized she needed support and help.

Rock bottom will look different for everyone and the support needed will be unique to each individual. Chelsey uses her own experiences to now support other women walking through this.

Self-talk and our thoughts play a huge role in our emotions and feelings toward ourselves and that directly impacts our actions. Awareness around our triggers for negative self-talk and not beating ourselves up is key.

We also chat about how our feelings are so powerful, however, they are neither good nor bad. They are pleasant or unpleasant. Understanding why we are having certain feelings is important and we need space to process them and give ourselves time to just feel and be.

Chelsey shares about that moment in her life that changed everything - while going through the hardest time of her life she decided that when she came out on the other side she was determined to help other women going through similar things and she is truly impacting so many women!
