Today I'm chatting with Mel, a clinical herbalist who started off as a backpacking guide and wilderness therapist in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Through her work, she realized that the toxic first-aid kits her clients were bringing were doing more harm than good. Mel developed a natural first-aid kit and became passionate about teaching people how to use plants for self-care and care for the planet.

Mel chats with us about the importance of learning the science behind medicinal use of plants and stresses the importance of knowing when to seek medical care instead of relying solely on herbs.
