Learning the ins and outs of motherhood isn’t the only thing Angela has been learning to navigate as a new mom. She has also spent her time recovering from domestic abuse and ovarian cancer. Today, helping other women is how she’s able to help herself continue through the healing process. 

It was tough to get to where she is today, especially with gaslighting being so common. Angela learned to fight against gaslighting by becoming extremely deliberate in her actions. She made a habit of writing down exactly what she was feeling in those tough moments so that she’d be able to come back to them later. Having it written down removed the chance of her feelings being invalidated.

If you’re going through something similar, Angela’s best advice is to ask for help. You can’t do this alone. Allow yourself space to process your emotions. Give yourself 30 minutes a day to break down! Feeling and processing your emotions is a major step to healing. Not every day is great, but eventually, you’ll be able to see how worth it that first step was.
