Perfectionism Diminishes Creativity

April 14, 2020 14:05 - 11 minutes - 16.1 MB

In todays episode we will be discussing what it means to implement imperfection into our creativity rather than using it as a form of criticism. Its important to know that mistakes, flaws and loopholes are seriously okay to have within your pieces. We do not want to be boxed in as creatives so why do we create boundaries for our art and ideas with terms like "Perfect" ? I started this discussion in hopes that it will remind you to embrace the mess!  For inquiries: https://juliasjakovs.com/c...

Todays episode is very special to me because I get to sit down and interview my friend Brian Pater! April 11, 2020 14:48 - 14 minutes - 20.4 MB

In todays episode, we will be discussing Body Shaming in the Modeling Industry as well as day to day life. We're living in a current state of normalizing self deprecation which isn't a great foundation to be standing on when self esteem is low. I have found in myself that a lot of my body shame came from comparison and following model weight requirements starting out in this industry. I don't believe there is a mark we need to hit in order to be "beautiful" because beauty is not a cookie cut...

Episode 22 : Washed Up Creators : How To Lose The Label

April 07, 2020 15:12 - 18 minutes - 25.7 MB

In Todays episode we will be discussing the term "Washed Up" and how to let go of the labels. It makes me sick to my stomach that some of the reasons people aren't pursuing the things they love is because of the weight they're carrying. We don't need to be holding onto the words others project on us. I also feel its important to identify where we find ourselves currently in our creative journey and if it time to return to our creative endeavors again. We discuss being aged out of the industr...

April 06, 2020 14:23 - 22 minutes - 30.8 MB

In todays episode, we are discussing  10 Survival Jobs of Broadway Stars Who Made It Big from Playbill. I have brought along my friend Kendra Marie Smith to go through the article featuring stars like Jessie Mueller, Wayne Brady, Lin-Manuel Miranda and thats just to name a few! Its always fun to look at how the people we look as "stars" truly started out in the same way that we did. Knowing that is encouragement itself (At least for me!). Rejection Isn't As Personal As We Think

April 04, 2020 15:30 - 15 minutes - 21 MB

In todays episode I touched on the topic of rejection and choosing to look at it from a different light. Don't get me wrong, it isn't easy facing rejection ALL THE TIME. As creatives, we want to be seen and valued for the work that we do. But I do feel like its also important to recognize that just because someone doesn't see the value in you doesn't mean you are worthless.  Finding your footing in this world takes time, especially when theres no guide to follow. March 30, 2020 14:22 - 14 minutes - 19.6 MB

In todays episode I wanted to discuss the power behind our yes and no. In life we have to make plenty of choices big or small that make an impact on our future. So why do we feel the need to say yes to things we don't even want to be apart of ?  We discuss the two things we need in order to start down this road of "No" and how to put ourselves first to benefit our wellbeing. Having people pleasing tendencies myself, I know this can bring some value to someone having a hard time choosing No. ...

Episode 12 : Accomplishments Mean Nothing

March 18, 2020 17:19 - 14 minutes - 20.4 MB

In todays episode I'm asking everyone to take their all accomplishments and keep them for the resume. But how do we start being more aware of our need to compete when its not a competition ? I'll be discussing my most recent encounter like thi...
