Today on Your Ultimate Life, Kellan talks about the blues, especially around the holidays. For many people, and at one time, Kellan, the holidays were not happy times, in fact, they were very hard. Sadness was the order of the day. Holidays are about whatever holiday it is. It's about family, about getting together, and about celebrating "Holy Days" or holidays. Whether it be anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, the birth of Christ, Veteran's Day... we celebrate freedom, new beginnings, old years and in with the new.

There's another thing that happens around holidays... and that is having the blues.  There are many causes, but, one that I know for sure is...loneliness. There's all of this "holiday" stuff going around and you're alone. Everyone is partying, fireworks going off, gift exchanges...and you're feeling left out, lost, without purpose, etc. Kellan has absolutely felt that.

One Christmas that he remembers is when he was separated from his wife (long-since divorced), none of the kids were over and he was alone in a large house on Christmas Eve. No decorations, nothing. Where do you go from here?

Two words - go serve, yes, that's right - Go Serve. If you want to stop feeling lonely, immediately go serve. It doesn't matter how you feel... you are alive, you can get somewhere. You can go help someone do something. There's always a neighbor, church member, community organization that needs your help right now. They are crying and begging for volunteers.

It's your choice. You can stay married to the misery if you want, or you can "get out of your self and head" and do something for someone else.

Look for opportunities to serve. You will be amazed at how it helps mental health. With 40+ years of being a depressive (major depressive disorder), Kellan knows what he's talking about.

What will you create? How will you create Your Ultimate Life?
