Emotional or mental dependence on sugary foods and drinks can also be coined or termed sugar addiction.
The average sugar consumption per person per year has increased from 17.5 lbs in 1915 to 150 lbs per person. That's because sugar is literally found in everything from formula, fruit juices, salad dressings, coffee, not to mention our fruit, starches, and complex carbohydrates. It’s no wonder that a huge number of people are addicted to sugar nowadays.
Excess sugar will impair both our cognitive skills (ability to understand and make sense of what is happening around and to us) along with our self-control. For many people, even having a little bit of sugar will stimulates massive craving for more, meaning they have a hard time saying yes to only one cookie.
The reasons for this is sugar has drug-like effects in the reward center of the brain. It floods our body with dopamine (our feel good hormone) which makes us want to have more sugar.
Tune into today's sharable where the Dr’s share their tips and tricks on how to break your sugar addiction once and for all.
