Alan Turing was a genuis English mathematician, computer scientist and philosopher. He is widely considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence and was a critical part of deciphering the German enigma machine in WWII, helping save an untold number of lives. Despite his accomplishments, he was never fully recognized during his lifetime, largely due to the persecution he faced for being gay, which ultimately led to his death.
