Regular listeners will be more than happy to discover that my old pal SANDY McGREGOR is back this week to talk about how we watch telly these days, and we thought the best way to do that was to take a look at our personal choices of viewing during the most recent Festive Season.

I have to be honest with you and say that these days that particular time of the year kind of passes me by, but I think that enough time has now passed for us to examine the last one from a televisual perspective, and ask whether seasonal telly is quite as special as it used to be.

And I’ve got to be honest with you here, for me it certainly isn’t. I pretty much knew from the moment we cracked open the latest festive double issue of the TV GUIDE that there simply wasn’t all that much – at least on the main channels – that I’d be tuning in for.

This, rather naturally I suppose, led to me thinking a little about whether our modern viewing experience was pretty much the same as that of everyone else, and so I thought that I’d contact SANDY and have a bit of a chat about it. So, just after the start of the year, slightly before the last of the puddings had been set alight, but after the gaudy baubles had been packed away inside their gaudy bauble box, we did.
