The BBC has been coming in for quite a lot criticism lately, and seems to have been targeted by the forces of darkness currently inhabiting the corridors of power so, as we Archive TV fans generally tend to be quite big fans of a lot of what the BBC do, I thought I might grab one or two of the regulars to ask them about what they think about the BBC as an institution, warts and all.

And so I talked first to STEVE HATCHER to ask him to give his political insight to the subject, and then to LISA and ANDREW from THE ROUND THE ARCHIVES podcast to think about the BBC in more general terms, in a fascinating hour that was first proposed as being titled "In Defence of the BBC" but proved to me that, even amongst its fans (and I think it can be safely said that all four of us are people with a fondness for the corporation), the questions (and indeed the answers) are often far more complicated than you might originally have seemed, and I do sometimes put the same questions to both sets of guests, and the conversations prompted are, I hope you'll agree, all rather fascinating.

PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.
