In this episode, Zoe and Jessica discuss some common words and phrases that people say, often without thinking, that could be triggering to someone with disordered eating. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" - is unfortunately not a true statement for many individuals challenged by mental illness. It's the WORDS that really can stick with someone forever, and might even propel them deeper into the toxic dieting cycle... Now, this episode isn't to say there is a 'right' or 'wrong' way of speaking to someone with disordered eating, but more discussions like this need to be had so we can all better understand how to use healthier more positive language around our friends, loved ones, and colleagues - no matter where each of us are in our journey to improving our relationship with food.
