RETURN TO THE MOTHERLAND! I am in Gambia, West Africa this episode! I give you a little insight to Gambian culture, and how every day is a party, whether it's a wedding, funeral, or Sunday dinner. I talk about feeling depressed every time I leave Gambia and return to the U.S. This episode I interview my cousin, William Joiner, and we talk about BODY IMAGE! He chats with me about how being picked on as a kid for being the "chubby kid" affects him today, and his struggles with negative self-talk. We also talk about emotions, and how it's NOT acceptable to show them in Gambia, or else...what the hell is wrong with you? Oh, and uh as long as you have a roof over your head, food to eat, and family...you couldn't possibly have anything to worry about! "You'll be fine".  Who would've thought the stigma surrounding mental illness in the U.S. would be so similar in Gambia?
