I was interviewed by Konteksto, a group of translators and interpreters in Colombia, and had a great time sharing a bit of my experiences in these past 24 years as a translator. I’m used to talking to fellow language professionals, but this session was special: it was my first time giving an interview in Spanish!

If you’ve been listening to Translation Confessional for a while, you know how I’m always saying that I translate from Spanish to Portuguese and English, but I don’t speak Spanish fluently. I guess, after this interview, I’ll have to stop saying that. Maybe I should rephrase it as “I don’t have an identity in Spanish” as I do in Portuguese and English. So, as long as I’m talking about my experiences as a translator, I’m able to think in my third language and express myself the way I wanted to.  And the Konteksto team is so great that they made me feel at home, too.
