As a mom, you are special. Though, it is easy to give so much of yourself to your loved ones and care about others’ needs. In the midst of all you do for your others, it is important for YOU to find the proper time and space to focus on your self-compassion and enrich your inner strength.

In this episode, Jodi speaks with Helen Abelesz, who is a women’s life coach. Helen shares her insights regarding how to integrate a sense of self compassion into your life. After listening, you will walk away with practical tips to help you pursue self-compassion so that you can strive to be your best self.

2:00 Introducing Helen Abelesz
“I help women, especially moms, who are feeling overwhelmed, and stressed, and who are hard on themselves, and feeling bad about themselves to find those inner strengths”

5:05: What is Self-Compassion?
“We don’t notice the everyday things that we are succeeding in, we tend to focus on what’s not working. And so for me, self-compassion is just being real and noticing when we are succeeding ”

8:00: Comparing Ourselves to Others
“I think if we would focus on doing more of what we are doing well as opposed to what we are not doing well (...) it’s a much lighter way of living and we are much less critical and negative”

10:30: Tips on How to Incorporate Self-Compassion Into Your Life
“What are the negative messages that you are giving to yourself and then to notice that their just a thought (...) it’s not necessarily based on reality”

12:55: Replacing negative messages with positive affirmations
“Any sentence, it doesn’t matter which one. You have to choose one that really speaks to you that really encapsulates what you're feeling and helps to bring you up"

15:15: Impacts of saying positive affirmations and how long it takes for such statements to affect us
“We have these thoughts, mostly, ‘I'm not a good mom’ and ‘I am not enough.’ And so saying the powerful, the positive words it goes in, slowly, slowly it seeps in and you start to believe it more and more.”
